Filing day in Austin: what we’re watching

Legislators begin filing bills for the 90th Texas Legislature today, ahead of the session that convenes January 12, 2027. Game Room Texas will read every filing that touches game rooms, gaming devices, and local regulation — and summarize each one here in plain English: what it would do, who filed it, and where it stands.

Our standard is the same as the rest of this site: the bill text first, our summary labeled as a summary, and a link to the official record at Texas Legislature Online so you can check our work.

Why this site exists

Texas game rooms have been talked about more than they’ve been listened to. The coverage writes itself: an illegal operation gets raided, and every permitted, taxpaying, adults-only room in the state wears the headline. Meanwhile the real industry — local owners, local jobs, strict prize rules, permits on the wall — had no public voice saying what it actually is.

Game Room Texas is that voice. We’ll explain the games, publish the law in plain English, hold up a standard the good operators already keep, and follow the Legislature bill by bill. If we get something wrong, we’ll correct it in the open. That’s the deal.
